Hola,

I recently built a system. Everything is going fine, except for the fact that I'm getting no audio output. I've tried updating the drivers from Realtek's website but no luck. I've also made sure that nothing was muted and that my speakers are plugged into the appropriate audio port. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
Farnaby

Have a look in device manager .
Is the sound listed and/or does it have a yellow triangle and a ! next to it ?
Try rolling back drivers and/or reinstalling from the mb driver disk.

Also possible sound might be disabled in BIOS

Hit the DEL key as you boot and look in integrated peripherals

Amendment:

My headphones work when connected to the front audio port. I've also made sure that audio is set to "auto" in the bios.

Thanks again!

If you are using the realtek AC97 codec instead of the HD sound you can only have fron or rear enabled but not both at the same time [ I think ]

Click on the realtek icon in the system tray [ red speaker ] and change options....

What I see under device manager:

High Definition Audio Device
Realtek High Definition Audio

Both are working (according to device manager that is).

Ugh.

Outlander, I'd like to thank you for your help, but unfortunately, you didn't provide advice on how not to be an idiot.

It turns out that the cable that runs from my subwoofer to the PC was unplugged.

Hopefully I'll be an example for future noobs!
