I'm looking to replace a desktop whose hard drive started clicking. Here are the specs I'm interested in:

TYPE: Desktop PC
PROCESSOR: 3ghz+
CPU: quad core
RAM: 8gb
HARD DRIVE: minimum 500gb, 7200rpm
DRIVE: DVD+-RW and DVD-ROM
PORTS: minimum 4 USB 2.0 and firewire, audio, video inputs
VIDEO CARD: I'd like to be able to run 3 LCD monitors from this PC
USES: Photoshop, website editing, video editing, some gaming

What desktop machines would you recommend?

What vendors would you recommend?

Thanks in advance.

I think you'll need to cite a budget before anyone can help you out... gives a framework for any recommendations :)

Also, are you open to suggestions regarding your setup? I'm sure some here would recommend an Intel Core i7 processor, even if it isn't technically a quad-core CPU. As for three displays, you have the following options:

-Get a workstation card that can power all three monitors (like the NVIDIA Quadro NVS series)
-Get two video cards: the first powers two displays, the second powers one.
-Use a splitter like the TripleHead2Go.

Hope this helps!

BUDGET: Ideally under $1k but can go up to $1200 if necessary
Totally open to suggestions re: setup.

Thanks for the tip on powering 3 displays.

Any ideas and suggestions of models I should consider?

Tks

You'd prefer buying a computer right, instead of buying the parts and putting them together? May I suggest you try the latter, since you'll save a lot of money that way?

I'll follow your suggestion to benefit from cost savings.

I suggest you head over to the Homebuilt section, through out some planned specs you think will work for your purposes, and see what people have to say. I think powering three displays will require at least $300 of hardware. Not to sure about that though, so ask. :)
