I had a geforce 6800 128mb video card in my system and bought a geforce 512mb 8500GT. When I ran 3dmark my score lowered by 300, and I went into world of warcraft and my fps was lower aswell.

Sounds about right. Bigger number doesn't necessarily mean better card.

300 isn't much, it could be that some process started in the background during the test. As for WoW, how lower are your FPS?

A 8500GT is in par with a 6800. near to be.

You should have buyed a 9600gt or a HD4670 for a real improvement.
