I'm looking to replace my video card - it is an older 8800 GTS

I'm sticking with NVIDIA, prefer to stay with the EVGA brand (had nothing but success with them)

My PSU can handle even the high end 280 cards

I have a limited budget - around $200.00

both the High end 9800 GTX+ and the low to mid GTX 260 fit into my price range (280's are out of the question)

Which is a better choice? The 260's seem to have more ram, the 9800 have higher core and memory clocks

if someone could go deeper then just one is better then the other, but why one is over the other - also what I should be looking for, etc

there a lot of 260 variations out there - are even the lower end 260's out performing the 9800 gtx+?

You should get the eVGA 260 216 for 199.00AR if you want to stick with eVGA. Has more stream processors than the regular gtx260 and is comparable to the gtx280 in some instances. Also, it has a higher memory bus, memory speed, stream processors/cores than the 9800gtx+. I would buy the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814130448 and use the eVGA utility to overclock it.. that's what eVGA stands for, so you shouldn't feel shy overclocking that card. DO NOT GET THE 55nm version, trust.

GTX260. nice and sweet. You'll be good for decent high res. have fun !
