I have a 3 5.25 bay hot swap sata backplane, for 4x 3.5" hard drives that i use in a raid 5+1 setup.
It works well, but I have yet to find a good computer case to fit it in, I like the antec 300, but that only has room for 3 5.25" bays. And would not leave any room for a DVD drive.
So I'm looking at the antec 900, because you can swap out the drive bays in 3 bay increments, the only problem is, I need to know if the inside of those bays are Smooth. AKA. No metal lips to support dvd drives.
I'm going to assume the top 3 bays already have those metal lips, and I would preferr not to bend them outward with pliers to get the backplane to fit. So I'm hoping the bottom 6 bays do not have that problem.
yea,,, i'm not spending 3$$ on a computer case that doesnt make me sandviches.
Upon further inspection of the antec 900 images available i concluded that the top 3 bays do have the metal lips. but i have no clue about the bottom six because they have the removable hard drive bays... which in my mind implys they should be smooth.
I could bend the metal lips on the top 3 bays, but i would prefer not to...
I was kinda hoping someone that has this case would get off their butt and look at it :-)
You probably already figured it out, but yes they have the lip, I have the case and have been thinking of doing the same thing, post some pics if you do the mod :-}
