i have the p5e3 premium. I was origninally runny two 1GB sticks of crucial 1600mhz, but then bought two 2GB sticks of OCZ reapers, I put them all in and now I can't POST even with the original memory. Did i screw up the whole motherboard?
Probably not, unless you pressed too hard when you inserted the memory in the slots and damaged the board. Did you try with just one stick of the old memory?
yeah I've tried that, but it still hasn't worked. Then I tried clearing the RTC by moving the jumper, and accidently ran the computer with the jumper on a power pin for a fan. The mobo still runs, but obviously I can't tell if that messed it up more because I still can't get passed the POST. My chassis doesn't have a speaker so I can't hear any beeps.
I haven't a clue as to whether shorting the fan power pin would damage anything. After that, were you able to clear the CMOS with the jumper or removing the battery?
Is the MB still under warranty?
Yeah I just called Asus they're going to RMA it. I don't think it's under warranty anymore, I got it just over a year ago. But It's by far the best motherboard I've ever had so if need be I'll buy a new one...
