How hot should my graphics card run?

well i just got done with a new build of mine, and its pretty much my first gaming machine. i bought a sapphire radeon HD 4870 X2, and right when i turned it on, the card was pretty freaking hot. Is this normal?

The 4870x2 runs pretty hot. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Graphics cards handle heat better than CPU's. If your really worried you should post the temperature rather than a relative value... pretty freaking hot is not much to go on. Look in the Catalyst Control Center for the temps (advanced settings view, ATI overdrive tab).
