well im trying to decide whether to go with 28" monitor with 800:1 contrast ratio vs 24" with 4000:1 contrast ratio and im not sure which i should pick, its for gaming btw

Contrast ratio is important, but make sure the figure you are looking at is static contrast ratio. Dynamic is somewhat useless, but it is also much higher, so it is where the ridiculously high numbers come from.

I would suspect that the 800:1 is static, while the 4000:1 is a dynamic figure. Based on that, it is hard to say. Now, if both of them are static, the 4000:1 is phenomenal, and definitely the one to get.
