Raid over USB (SSD)

Anyone ever thought about doing this as more and more SSD drives are getting dual interfaces? I would think with USB 3 arriving down the pipe that it would be dirt cheap to have SSD drives with USB 3 connectors only. This is great for external use, but for internal use raid is nice. So the next 'step' would be to raid your SSD's via USB connectors.

  1. For an internal drive there's no advantage to using USB, and you loose TRIM functionality even if the drive wasn't in RAID. USB hosts also have to deal with unexpected removal of devices, something that would be anathema to a RAID system.

I dunno, it just doesn't seem to make sense to me...
