Hi. I never cared that much about video cards because I don't play games. Until I got a big monitor. I now have a 1920x1200 monitor and when I play mpg/wmvs/etc at full screen size, they lag. I figure that a better video card will help.

I currently run an Athlon 64 x2 4800+ with 2 MB RAM and an onboard GeForce 7050 PV.

I'd like to get the cheapest video card that would give me smooth flowing video at full monitor resolution. Oh and I'd prefer an Nvidia card since I have heard horror stories about running ATI cards under Linux.

Thanks guys.

Well, if your not going to do any gaming and your gonna stick by nvidia side, I suggest you go for 9400gt or 9500gt. Both of them are not good gaming cards, but for your situation it should meet your expectations and needs.
