Try the following ways. Should tune your PC up more or less.

1) Remove Unwanted Programs.
2) Delete Any Clutter / Junk Files.
3) Clean Out The Registry.
4) Disable automatic startup of some programs.
5) Defragment your system.

Also l recommend a PC speed up tool to you, which can help you easily and instantly speed up your PC with just a few clicks. Good luck. Here to download: http://www.anysoftwaretools.com/speed-up-pc.html

Definitely the best set of instructions! I would only add Cleaning out your fans,
As much as its seems obvious, it does effect your computers performance as it can create high temperatures.

Also if "anysoftwaretools" does not do it for you, i found that PC Tuneup Maestro : http://www.compuclever.com/products/pc-tuneup-maestro works great, and is not as spammy as some other programs out there!

Good luck saving your computer!

Move the pagefile to its own partition. Try a program like deepfreeze. That way it will always run like its a fresh copy ;) Shutdown services you don't need. Instead of installing winxp try Xp lite.....Switch software. To lightweight version maybe open source software in stead. Finally move away from windows to *unix or bsd ... The last one is optional...
