hi 2 all im new to the forum and have recently bought a new cpu(e5300) and motherboard (ga g41m-es2l) and have overclocked the cpu to 3.0 ghz with a vid of 1.024 with a celeron d cooler and im still getting temps above 50 at full load the fan is already running at full rpms any help would be appreciated to lower down the temps thanx for any replies in advance

Better cooler/thermal paste/check you mounted it properly/airflow.

50°C is pretty good for a 400 MHz o/c on the stock cooler, the max is around 75°C but keeping it below 60°C is a good idea.

thx lmeow i founded some thermal paste and dropped the temp to 40 on full load. do you think that i must leave the vcore at 1.040 cause i never saw any1 getting an overclock to 3.0ghz on such low voltage? thx for your reply

currently i have the cpu running at 3.25ghz at about 1.104 vcore ran prime95 temps was just under 50 c for both cores and is running stable. the lowest my memory multi goes is 2.66 ? or what did u mean by setting the memory multiplier to 2?

I just happen to have a GA-G41M-ES2L :) with an E7500 CPU installed.

I just moved and I do not have my home network (3 PC's) and a 4 port KVM switch up and running. So I disconnected my main PC and breadboarded:
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/262730-31-breadboarding
the G41.

My System Memory Multiplier options, once I am out of Auto, are 2.00A, 2.50A, and 3.00A. I forgot to check the BIOS version.

A while back I built a system for sis-in-law with a G41 and an E5200. That system also had a 2.00 System Memory Multiplier. In fact, I have never seen a Core2 Gigabyte motherboard (I have three others) without a 2.0 mem. mult.

Now would be a good time for a  smiley.

All of my Core2 systems are running with an FSB:RAM ratio of 1:1. That means the memclock is running twice as fast as the FSB frequency.

My Q6600 (400 X 9) memory is running at DDR2-800. My Q9550 (8.5 X 425) is running at DDR2-850. I have an E5200 in an old P35 board running at 3.78 GHz (315 X 12). Mem clock is DDR2-630.

In a Core2 system, there is just not much gain in trying to overclock RAM.
