Is Anybody else having issues with this new 9.2? I have Vista 64, Core i7, Dual Sapphire 4870x2's Crossfired,

I had 8.12 hotfix, with zero issues. I uninstalled 8.12 using the CCC uninstaller, Restarted, then searched all files for ATI and removed the ATI folder on C:,

Then installed 9.2, I am getting serious performance problems now with 3D Vantage, my Fan Controller in ATI overdrive doesn't work...

Any Ideas? Because in the release notes for 9.2 it says up to 20% increase in DX10 Performance for Crysis! That is a must for me.

Looks like they got that multicore support in.

I'd hate to reformat again, to get these 9.2 drivers on a clean install of windows... I can't figure out what's wrong with this 9.2...

Anyone have these issues? Manual Fan Control won't work, Poor performance.

@ wick 001:

That is a common problem man, and will be mentioned in the release notes for 9.2 Basically anything from 8.12 onwards doesn't work for quad crossfire (your two beastly 4870x2s) so you need to revert to the old 8.11 drivers in the meantime. Gash, I know and all you can do is wait for 9.3 and hopefully a fix.
Go to the AMD website to see the release notes and go to the forum to read up on what I said, all the newest threads are by ppl like you ranting about why only 3 cores work!

@everyone else:

I reckon I'll stay with my 8.10 drivers - these 9.2s look like they f*ck more things up than not - and if you look on their forum there are ppl kicking up a sh*tstorm. Poor, poor driver support - that really is an area where you see Nvidia take the lead

Hehe, only 3 cores work you say ? Looks like my Tri-fire setup is unaffected, and at the moment, just as good as 4870X2 CF!

Ok, I just reinstalled Vista 64, with CCC 9.2

With CCC 8.12 Hotfix on 3D Vantage I was getting P24253 - GPU 24446 / CPU 23736

With CCC 9.2 GPU 19,800

WTF?

Excellent.

I just installed them, and these are the first drivers that I have attempted to install since 8.11 that didn't break crossfire (8.12 and 9.1 both break my crossfire).

They're faster than 8.11 too :)

I used to get 21-22k. Here's my new score:

What don't you believe about them?

They're absolutely legit. The reason for them being so high is that 3dmark06 is highly CPU dependent, and an i7 at 4GHz definitely boosts the scores a bit (oh, and those were for a single 4870x2).

The only thing the new driver does well in is FEAR 2, It actually loses performance, or no gain in everything else...

Well, that's true for those who had a working 9.1, but for me, 8.12 and 9.1 both failed to enable crossfire. Compared to 8.11, it's a performance gain in almost every application.

1_Cjl is one of the most trusted users in this site :)
2_Cat 8.12,8,12 hotfix and 9.1 all brought improvements from 8.11 and since Cjl didnt upgrade from his 8.11 due to CF problems, then he must have seen a performance improvment(which he did)

so its true

O.k. I mean, the difference in score. I haven't experienced such a score difference. I don't know why. May be i'm using a single GPU and the driver modification is mainly applicable to dual/CrossFire modes.

There was only a bump of around 2k out of 20k from 8.11 to 9.2 for me - I would be very surprised if there was that significant of a difference between 8.12 and 9.2 or 9.1 and 9.2.

Also, you may be right about crossfire optimizations.

I should go install these, just realised i am still on 8.11 myself although that was due to some wierd driver issue that blackscreened as soon as the windows loading screen came up, odd problem caused by going into sleep mode while in a game me thinks.

After tons of testing with 9.1 & 9.2 ...

8.12 HotFix is the best driver for my system right now. It keeps my temps the coolest on idle, offers the best performance in all my games and 3D Vantage.

I'll stick with 8.12 HotFix for now... Sucks because I was really looking forward to the "20% Crysis increase" with 9.2, but all 9.2 did was make my cards run hotter and slower.

Was anyone actually able to download the Vista x64 version of the AVIVO converter? I saw the download button but the link doesn't work. They even said the release date was Feb 20 2009 but it's nearly 2 days now and the link still doesn't work.

Yep.
Upgraded from 9.1 and honestly I don't see a difference in any games that I play (mostly because they are already well above 60fps).
