Reformatting a 2tb external hdd

i have a 2tb western digital external hdd. it has 2 ntfs partitions. i wanted to make one of them a fat 32 partition. i deleted the one which i wanted to reformat. now i can't find it. when the hdd is plugged it shows on one partition. the other 1tb has disappeared.

Sure, but the 1tb space it used to hold should be somewhere. i can't find that.
 
OK, so what program are you using to look at the space on the disk?

Explorer will only show you partitioned space - any unpartitioned space is simply ignored.

Disk Management should show you the entire drive, including partitioned and unpartitioned space. You run disk management using:

Start -> right-click "Computer" and select "Manage" -> click "Disk Management" in the left pane.

Be sure to look in the LOWER portion of Disk Manager's right pane.
