I just upgraded the dell dimension e521 from a 400+ to a 5400+ and i was wondering, are these temps acceptable?:

Core 0 : 29c
Core 1 : 33c

the 400+ ran about the same at 29c/30c, so should i reapply thermal grease better/more evenly or will it be alright?

Those are idle, i'm sort of afraid to check the load, in fear of burning/destroying something but i can try one of the games i upgraded for and try and get the readings for it while i'm playing.

Gaming isn't a good test of load. Download and run Prime95. You shouldn't worry too much - modern CPUs can take a LOT of heat for short periods (hell, I've had my i7 up over 95C), and as long as you keep an eye on the temps, it shouldn't be any serious risk to your hardware. Besides, it sounds like you probably got the thermal grease on correctly, so it should stay within reasonable limits, no trouble at all.

Oh, thanks. I'll do that and come back with my load temps.

I ran a test and they hit/fluctuated at 67c.

This what only at the end of the test though, are those decent load temps?

So, final verdict, i should be good!

THanks for the help, i just wanted to make sure i didn't eff something up, I can't afford a new pc right now XD;

If those are Prime95 numbers, you are fine, yes. That is somewhat close to the max rated temperature for the CPU, but you will never hit that kind of load in normal usage either, so you should have a fairly healthy margin under real world conditions.
