4870X2, can I replace the backplate ?

Well, during gaming the backplate gets very hot, this backplate is to help spread out the heat on the memory chips, correct ? here is a pic of the 4870X2 with the backplate removed http://www.bjorn3d.com/read.php?cID=1410&pageID=5789

Now, would it be possible to remove that backplate ? would I see lower temps ? Or higher ones because there is nothing to dissapate the heat ? My memory has been getting up to 112C lately which makes me uncomfortable.

My idea, is to pick up some of these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... vmemory heat sinks and stick them on the ram chips

Does anybody know if this is possible ? OR what have you done to cool your memory ? Please, need some help and suggestions, thanks.

To put the memory heatsinks on you would have to remove the casing, which would leave you without a fan. Your best bet is to wait a couple of weeks until Arctic Cooling release their aftermarket cooler for the 4870x2, I know I will!
