Your question

4870X2, can I replace the backplate ?

Well, during gaming the backplate gets very hot, this backplate is to help spread out the heat on the memory chips, correct ? here is a pic of the 4870X2 with the backplate removed

Now, would it be possible to remove that backplate ? would I see lower temps ? Or higher ones because there is nothing to dissapate the heat ? My memory has been getting up to 112C lately which makes me uncomfortable.

My idea, is to pick up some of these vmemory heat sinks and stick them on the ram chips

Does anybody know if this is possible ? OR what have you done to cool your memory ? Please, need some help and suggestions, thanks.

To put the memory heatsinks on you would have to remove the casing, which would leave you without a fan. Your best bet is to wait a couple of weeks until Arctic Cooling release their aftermarket cooler for the 4870x2, I know I will!
