DirecTV channel 295 reception problems.
I have a Toshiba DST-3000 HD receiver; I have been able to get reception on
channel 295 (PBS Kids) for many years. A few weeks ago the picture became
pixilated and distorted but only sometimes. Now sometimes I don't receive a
picture at all on 295. I get a "searching for satellite signal" message on
the bottom of the screen. All other DirecTV channels work fine. Any ideas
what is going on here? I called DirecTV but they were useless.

Is this a DVR (TiVo) unit? Or a standard receiver? I had a similar
problem with a few channels on my DirecTV/DVR and I went into the menu
"Messages and Setup" and from there I went to the submenu titled "Reset
DVR".
Using this option WILL NOT erase your recordings. It take a few minutes
for the unit to reacquire the satellite information, but I have had no
problems since. It might work for you too.
If this is a standard receiver,a simple "reboot" might help.

Yeah, I tried the reboot, no luck.

A "Reboot" by:
1: turning the receiver off,
2: pulling the card.
3: Unplugging the unit from the AC power..
4: waiting several minutes or up to 1/2 hour, and then do all the above
in reverse.. (321) plug it back in, insert the card, turn it on)?

What are you showing on signal strength on that channel. I think it is sat
A transponder 19.
If it is weak you might try realigning your dish. Right now I'm having
problems with my HD receiver and have determined it is the actual receiver.
It is fine on some transponders and terrible on others (other receiver is
fine). I wish someone knew which transponders were lumped together in
reception, like analog signals have ranges for certain channels.
