I tried to configure belkin range finder to my laptop at home. since then I cannot connect to wireless network at work (no wireless networks found)

I understand it has someti=hing to do with ad hoc but I'm not sure. Please help!

Ad hoc is usually for connecting computer to computer to exchange files. You need to make sure your wireless adapter is set to Infrastructure instead.

Of course you may simply be locked out at work because you haven't told the adapter which security protocol to use and given it the correct passphrase.

I'd raise it with the IT people at work.
