Hello

I cant decide between the i7 860 and the 875K.

Previously i decided to get the i7 860 coz it performs good at turboboosting and can overclock it to beat the i7 875.

But recently i saw that i7 875k has come out,. what can it do more than the i7 875.

Can an i7 875 overclocks more than a 860, if so can i get it inspite of i7 860 good turboboosting.

Will the i7 875k be better than the all three. What can it do more that i7 860 and i7 875.

Do the i7 860 turboboosting a Advantage for me if i overclock.

More about : 875k i7860

The Core i7 860 and Core i7 875K both have similar overclocking limits, just below 4.0 GHz or so on air. They are equally fast, clock for clock.

However, the i7 875K has an unlocked multiplier which makes it relatively easy to overclock.

The Core i7 860's Turbo Boost will activate if it can - i.e., if you overclock to 3.6 GHz, it will not Turbo Boost if there is not enough voltage or the temperature is too high because of the overclock.

Are you willing to pay the extra for the unlocked multiplier? If yes, 875K. If no, 860.

You won't need to higher the BCLK to get a higher CPU clock. Just crank up the CPU multiplier until you find it unstable, then add more voltage.

Thanks! Really helped me

I am a new to OC, Can i go to 875K instead of 860. But some say that 860 has good TURBO BOOST?

The i7 875K has the same or very similar Turbo Boost as the i7 860.

If you have the budget then buy the 875k. If you want to overclock then I'd recommend turning off turbo boost and just running it at your desired speed.

Why don't you just get and 870 which cost the same as the 860 now.
