The other day my buddies power went out and his computer was plugged directly into the wall without a surge protector. So after the power went out they turned on a generator which kept restarting the computer over and over. Now whenever he starts it up it says energy savings mode or something like that and also the fans inside still function. Does anybody know if there is any way to fix this or is the pc totally ruined thanks in advance for the help. I was thinking maybe its just the power supply or something but im not sure.

Who knows what got killed. You could have lots of testing ahead of you. It could be anything from just power failure to huge power surge ten outage.

One time my neighbor's house got hit by lighting. The surge jumped every surge protecting circuit in the house. Everything turned on, microwaves, oven, TVs, anything plugged in and even all the phones rang. Killed the ISA bus on my mobo and took out the 14.4 modem, if people even remember those types of devices.
