I recently bought a processor from ebay and it was the right socket and everything, but when I turn my computer on it just sits at the boot screen and freezes (can't get into boot menu or setup). I put my old processor back in and it works fine. I cleared the CMOS, but that didn't work.

Any help?

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/prodinfoCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=1847636&lang=en

and the new cpu is an AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2.2 Ghz (ADA3500DAA4BP)

I know its going from an old cpu to another old cpu, but going from 1.8 to 2.2 is the only upgrade i need right now.

and eagles i downloaded a bios update from the hp site and installed it, but the update is from 2007 and im not even sure if it did anything

so does the fact that it atleast starts and gets to the boot screen mean that it works?

I enabled the boot time diagnostic screen and when i boot with the new cpu it lists the main processor and says the correct name for it, but then it stops and wont list anything else and wont let me go into setup.
