The mobo im thinking of buying for my phenom II build is this;

Asus Crosshair III Formula AMD 790FX (Socket AM3) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard

On the shop site it states this is the ram it uses;

- 4 x DIMM, Max. 16 GB, DDR3 1600(OC)/1333/1066

What i was wondering was, what does DDR3 1600(OC) mean?

It obviously means overclocked or does it ?

So could i buy any normal DDR3 1600 RAM and the mobo would support ?

Heres the link if anyone could check this up for me before I spend my hard earned pennies on it lol.

Thanks alot people!

It means the board officially supports up to DDR3-1333, but includes settings so you can overclock the board to run RAM at DDR3-1600 speed. Often this is because there is no official standard yet for the OC speed. For example, before Intel came out with 1333MHz FSB speed CPUs, some MBs supported 1333MHz FSB speed as an (OC) setting.

Personally, if you're worried about hard-earned pennies, I would stick with a DDR2 board.
