Um, this is an incredibly cool running CPU anyway. Mine runs at about 35C with just a decent fan.

Try the XIGMATEK HDT-S1283. $36.99. Has my Phenom II 940 running at about 34 - 37 idle depending on the room temperature. If you get it from newegg before the end of april they include a free USB cable. (not related to the product but its a free 15ft cable, may come in handy sooner or later). It also will ship for free...

I can tell you what I did and what temps I am getting.

I did not use the stock thermal compound. I used Arctic Cooling MX-2 which is 6.99 $. Then, I simply put a MASSCOOL 80mm fan on top of the stock HSF. My CPU idles @ 30C and peaks @ 50C (under Prime 95). The cores idle @ 19C, and peak @ 32C.

The fan costs 2 $ + shipping. You can buy 10 of them for 12.99 and pay no shipping.

So everything ended up being 8.99 $. What do you think?

ill be putting another 4870 hd radon into my new m4a79 delux, and 940 xquad core phenom. itll be a somewhat tight squeeze close to the cpu fan and heatsink, the 4870 is a very sweet card but it runs somewhat hot ,im running a stock cpu cooler now and havent oced yet, but if i need a cooler for the second card what is a good recomendation, any one done this yet? thanks james

A buddy of mine just bought a new system with a 4870, and he put a Zalman VF1000 on it, and it keeps it nice and chilly. I can't remember offhand what it lowered his temps to, but it was very significant. It comes highly recommended.
