I recently purchased a Thermaltake MaxOrb EX for my Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P. I plan on returning it as I can't get it to fit correctly. In everybody's opinion what would be the best CPU fan to buy for this application? This will be installed in a HTPC so it needs to be extremely quiet. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Jim

Hi,

I read this before elsewhere, the CPU cooler is hard to Fix because the RAM slots are to close, is this your problem, I would like to know ?

Starting with the CPU socket, there's plenty of room on all sides to install large coolers, and there's a voidal amount of room between here and the memory slots. The northbridge and power regulation are cooled by neat aluminium and blue-anodised plating, and a nickel-coated copper heatpipe joining them. Strangely placed, there is a Realtek chip just underneath this heatpipe, which seems to be powering one of the Ethernet ports.
