What's better, external USB CD-R/RW or internal IDE CD-R/RW?

Got a music file transfer project. I could use external USB CD-R/RW, or I could go internal IDE - device manager on this PC (WindowsXP) says IDE controller is "intel ultra ata storage controller 24cb".

Which would perform/function better?

Internal IDE will function better than USB 2.0.

USB 3.0 should be pretty close though, if you have a usb 3 port & device
