Sata III 6gb/s?

I read a lot of reviews telling that hard disk transfer rates are usually in 100 mbps-200 mbps range..
do we really need a 6 gbps interface for this?

No. But it looks cool on the motherboard retail box in red followed by !!!!.

Even the fastest SSDs don't seem to be going above the 3Gbps of SATA II. I suppose if someone creates something new in 2 years that does go that fast, you'll have the interface available.

SATA 6Gbit/sec is of little or no benefit for mechanical hard drives - it's really only the very high-end SSDs which exceed what's possible with 3Gbit/sec SATA.
