Festore start icon

tell me how to restore my "start"icon I,m new to the computer and getting frustrated, I hope it woin,t cost anything, it all seems to cost something is this what the net is all about?

You mean you cannot see your Start button alone or the whole bar is gone ?
Have you pointed your mouse to the bottom most part of your window to make sure it's not hidden ? How about the windows key on keyboard, does that open a menu ?
Have you restarted your computer since ?
