I've been browsing...

Preferably I want a 4GHz quadcore (so OC-ing is an option) game-rig, no previous OC-experience, but a quick learner.

Should I go with the Q6600 or the later Q9XXX variants? If the difference (in performance) is minimal, preference goes to the cheaper option.

After some browsing I managed to fiddle up this list:

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 G0-stepping (S775, 4x 2.4GHz, 8MB, 1066MHz FSB, Boxed) € 164.90
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro € 14,85
Club3D HD 4870 X2 2048MB GDDR5 Dual GPU € 399,-
Cooler Master Real Power M620 € 75,50
Creative X-Fi Titanium € 65,78
Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3R € 104,-
Gigabyte iSolo 210 Grijs € 81,-
Kingston ValueRAM KVR800D2N5K2/4G € 34,46
Samsung SH-S223F € 16,81
Western Digital Caviar Blue WD6400AAKS, 640GB € 121,-

Total: €912,40

Anyone got some tips on the mobo/ram/cooling and if it is possible for the Q6600 to be OC'd to 4Ghz in a stable condition (i.e. 24/7)? I suppose with the OC, some better cooler is needed. Also, how long would a system like this last in years (expecting the rise of multithreaded games).

Thanks in advance!
