Hello.
I got an M61SME-S2 F9 gigabye mobo and i need to upgrade my video card and i found this new problem regarding "versions" according to gigabyte my mobo has a x16 1.0 PCI slot and the video card i want is an Nvidia 9800GTX which is made for 2.0 slots, the question is, can my mobo run it ? and what would i miss if so?

Thanks

A PCIe 2.0 card will run in a PCIe 1.0 slot with no problem.
Maybe at the very high end a video card might benefit from 2.0's greater bandwidth, but you'll see no difference with 9800GTX.

A point to be made: very little out there will "fill that pipe"! People often also ask about the 1x16 vs. 2x8 'kick-down' that the cheaper MOBOs do if you use two slots; the fact is that, unless you are Xfiring a pair of high-end 48x0 GPUs, you will not find a subjectively noticeable difference between 8x2 and 16x2; as for the boards with one x16 and one x4 - you might actually 'see' the difference there, but these boards are mainly aimed at running a x4 RAID card in the second (or third) slot: another point - if you try to do this with a 2X48x0 (I don't mean a PCIeX16-2.0, or two cards, I mean a dual GPU 48'something' card), often this will lead to erratic behavior or failure to run at all for the RAID card...
