ATI, now commonly known as AMD, has released its newest version of Catalyst drivers, Catalyst 9.2. The new version of Catalyst brings some performance improvements for DirectX 10 games, bunch of resolved issues as well as the new multi-GPU support for Folding@Home.

Noted performance improvements include gains of up to 20 percent in both Crysis and Crysis Warhead in DirectX 10 mode, up to five percent in World in Conflict DirectX 10 as well as some performance enhancements when running Fear 2 in CrossFireX mode.

The only new feature is the Multi-GPU support for Folding@Home, and this one includes ATI Radeon HD 4000, 3000 and 2000 series cards. This feature gives users an option to run a separate Folding@Home client on each GPU to further increase folding performance.

Beside these performance improvements and a new feature, the new version of ATI Catalyst brings bunch of resolved issues for both Windows and Linux platforms.

You can download the new Catalyst version here, where you can find full release notes as well.

20 percent in Crysis and Crysis Warhead GOD, that leaves the 260 for dust

So assuming that the new OS W7 goes on from its early promise, ie its equal in gaming compared to Vista so should improve. And given the fact that Vista seems to have gotten over its early issues so is similar in performance to XP.
Also on top of that we should see performance improvements when DX11 finally turns up and teh new DX11 cards will be faster all equals the quiet sound of bells in the background as they start the death knell of XP.
And M$ didnt do anything you could consider dubious in getting rid of it either ;)

Early reports of catalyst 9.2 don't look good I'm afraid :( (except if you are playing Fear 2 with a 4870X2 and then it is :bounce: )
