I will be putting parts together tomorrow. I am expecting to push i7 920 to at least 3.7 or possibly 4.0. I have already made up my mind to turn off turbo mode. But, Should i turn on HT or not? What is the performance gain with HT on?
I do not mind turning off HT for system stability. I do not know what to do.
When i run prime 95, should i turn on HT for the sake of testing even if i decide not to use HT later?
HT gives significant performance gains if you are running applications that can use more than 4 threads. Otherwise, you're better off turning it off for system stability and heat reasons.

Keep it on unless you are hitting a heat or stability wall. In my opinion if you have to turn it off you've OCed to far. The 100Mhz gain you get by turning it off doesn't trump the benefits of a lower clock and leaving it on.
