viewing film clip?

If we assume you mean sending by email, then opening thew attachment
is usually enough - the players have a list of file types they
recognise.

They will have file extensions like .mov for quicktime, .wmv for
windows media and .rm for real player, this is normally what's used to
determine which player plays a particular clip.

If it's a common clip type like .mpg (MPEG video) then any one of the
players will be able to play it, one of them will register itself as
the default application to open the file, much like Word opens if you
click a .doc attachment.

The default setting in what / to what ? Each player is different, but
generally you need to find a section on their menus (preference,
options etc) and under there will be an option to 'Reclaim file
types', 'Associate player with file types' and so on.

You probably don't realise, but you've given me *no* information at
all - there is no 'a video clip file' there are many formats. There is
no 'player' there are multiple players as I said earlier.

Without any information to go on, I can't really post instructions for
any and all files types and players you might have installed !
