Hi all,

I'm in the process of building my first computer, and am having trouble finding an answer to my question. I've decided to go with the:

ASUS M4A79T Delux and
AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition (hopefully I can avoid the bios version problems people have been having...)

I'm wondering if i can get 2xG.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 and fill all four slots.

I've read that some people have been able to fill all four slots with two sets of dual channel memory while other people say it doesnt work.

I'd ideally like to have the 8 gigs of ram, or at least have the option to put in more in the future.

Is there any way to make this work, or do I just need to suck it up and live with 4 gigs?

Thanks in advance.

Irish pride, 4GB isn't as bad as your probably think it is. That's more than enough for even the most intensive of tasks, and gaming. Remember that only 64-bit OSes can use more tan 3.25GB of RAM.

If you decide to use 4 sticks of ram instead of 2, on most motherboards you have to manually set the ram voltage. Just add 2 sticks first, turn on, open the bios and set your ram to the manufactures recommended settings, save, turn off . Now add your second set. In some cases you may need to up the voltage one or two steps.
One thing like "Lavarin" said, if you're running a 32bit OS, just go with 2 sticks (4gigs) and save yourself the headache.

Yes - I did it last eve on this board. I was going for 8 mb ram but 1 2mb stick was bad so I used my three remaining 2m sticks. Worked fine.

Obviously you mean 2 slots open, new product 4 gig sticks, using 2 pieces you will have 6 gigs and a little left over.

Roonj - if you were refering to my post:

I only had the one slot left - 3 slots filled with 2 mb sticks. 4th slot unused.
