Would like to know if ALL motherboards based on the X58 chipset support Quad Crossfire. By Quad Crossfire I do not mean 4 graphic cards, I am talking about 2 physical graphic cards with 2 GPUs each. For example: 2 units of 3870 X2 OR 2 units of 4850 X2 OR 2 units of 4870 X2 in Crossfire. Thanks and sorry if the question seems stupid for some.
By two GPUs per graphics cards do you mean a single graphic card that provides two integrated dual-link DVI display outputs on a single PCI Express 2.0 x16 bus interface? Cards like the ATI Radeon™ HD 3870 or ATI Radeon™ HD 2900 XT ATI Radeon HD 3870, or ATI Radeon HD 3870?
Clearly the mobo needs two PCI Express 2.0 x16 bus interface slots. Not all do. For example, EVGA's 132-BL-E758-TR lacks a PCI Express 2.0 x16 bus interface.
Intel's Desktop Board DX58SO does support ATI Crossfire.
I would check with the mobo's manufacture.

Maybe a search of MB manufacturers web site spec sheets supporting the X58 chipsets might be the place to start... Yes, that means YOU might have to do the leg work to find the answer to your own question... so fire up that keyboard!
further to add only crossfire X boards can do crossfire HD4870X2s not crossfire, someone whiling to lend me two HD4870X2s to try on my so called crossfire board >

Thank you, guys, for the quick reply. Actually, before opening the thread I did some homework and checked the manufacturer's website, and even sent their tech support a message. The thing is that I get different answers from the US support and the Brazilian support. Furthermore, their website is not very clear whether or not quad-gpu is supported (they just mention CrossfireX support). Anyway, I do not think I am going for the quadfire, I will just grab two 4890's and that's it. If anyone is interested, the mobo in question is the MSI X58 Platinum SLI and it has 2 lanes for graphics cards. Thanks for the help.
