Noob in need of major help...

Hey, im admittedly a noob when it comes to building PCs, but i do know a lot about computers in general. Im pretty much looking for the best gaming pc, but will also be good to watch movies/tv on. I was wondering what the best PC i could get with the budget of $1000. I have a few ideas about what i want, but wanted all your guys input before i make any decision. Thanks in advance for any help, ive been reading this forum for a while and you all seem very knowledgeable.

More about noob major help
  1. Build around the LGA 775, either the Q6600 or Q9550.

    Xigmatek HDT-S1283 heatsink for overclocking.

    Gigabyte EP45-UD3P mobo w/ Crossfire.

    Sapphire 4870 1GB video card.

    PCP&C Silencer 750

    WD Caviar Black 640GB

Start with that as a base and build around it.

You should also put your ideas out for our comments--that would help.
  2. Im not gonna lie, i really didnt have that many ideas. I just wanted to see wat you guys thought would be good, and then go from there. Wat you posted was very helpful, but if you guys have any other ideas or more specific builds i would like to hear those too!
  3. What Akebono gave is also good. I'd recommend dat you go for the Q9550 though since not many are in favor of Q6600 anymore but basically, anything that is good for gaming, is good for almost anything else about entertainment so you needn't worry bout it. Akebono's specs would be good for you to start on. Best of luck
  4. Thanks for the help guys, ill look into all of ur suggestions!!!
  5. What's included in the $1000 budget? Monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc...? Is the $1000 just for the tower?
  6. The $1000 is just for the hardware, not the monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc. I already have a monitor and all that other stuff that i can use, but i shoulda made that clear from the start......
