I've been having some strange heating issues with my Turion X2 TL-66, and i was wondering if i could upgrade my MSI L735, to a newer Turion Ultra and maybe get a more stable chip to work with. I know both use a Socket S1. So where can people buy stand alone Turion Ultras?

Also if it isn't recomended what would anyone suggest what i do to improve the cooling and over all condition of my laptop (assuming drives are all updated.)

Thanks in Advance

What kind of heating issues? A lot of laptops seem to run hot but that is just because they are compact and they have very few airflow ports.

I get temp spikes into the 70's when trying to play even older games, right now with a cooling pad it's running low to mid 40's.

It also tends to crash when i'm gaming, and not talking about just new games like Sins and Demigod, but when i play Starcraft without a cooling pad or unclocking the cpu it crashes on me.

Thats not too bad for a laptop. The max temp on that processor is 95c. also i found an instance where new thermal paste was put on and it colled by about 15c. Other than that, underclocking and new fan/heatsink are another 2 options.

I' sorry but I can not find anywhere that sells that heatsink/fan. I will keep looking though. Have you tried to put new thermal paste on it?
