Hey guys! I'm looking to buy a new computer since my last one just died. It lasted five years, so it really was time anyway. I built this custom computer from Dell, and I was hoping that the experts here would help me out to know if it's a powerful gaming comp for under $1,000. I really appreciate the insight and if it looks good, I'll probably buy it in a couple of days.

Here are the specs:

Dell Studio Desktop

Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad processor Q9650 (12MB L2, 3.00GHz, 1333FSB)
OS: Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium Edition SP1, 64-Bit
Memory: 8GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHz- 2DIMMs
Hard Drive: 500GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst Cache
Optical Drive: Dual Drives: 16x DVD-ROM Drive + 16x DVD+/-RW w/ dbl layer write capable
Video Card: nVidia GeForce 9800GT
Sound Card: Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer
Monitor: Westinghouse 22" HD widescreen

I'm looking to play Crysis, Half-Life 2, World of Warcraft, Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, and Empire: Total War. Will this set up be able to play these games, specifically Crysis, on high settings?

I would think that for a graphics card you should look at the Radeon HD4850/70 series.

That's a pretty nice build coming from Dell. The video card is a little weak, but should be able to play all of those on at least medium settings.
