Hey, I got a 790i SLI [Nvidia NForce FTW 132-YW-E179-A1] and see a 680i on ebay all the time for less than $50.

Here's the deal, the 790 has a few bent pins, but I think I can get a cpu on it - if nott, do you think other "i's" close to the 790 area - that their cpu socket would work for the motherboard [soldering?]?

By socket I'm assuming you meant "LGA775" which is universal among all motherboard based on it.

To solder that many pins you'd have to use a hotair rework station.
