Unlocked Athlon II x3 - L3 Cache help?

Hi all,
I had a question about unlocking an Athlon ii x3 440 on a MSI 790XT-G45 board. I successfully unlocked the 4th core with no problems. However, cpu-z reports that it is a phenom ii x4 b40 deneb processor. My question is - does this mean that there should be L3 cache unlockable on the chip? My current understanding is that it should, since it is reporting as a Deneb rather than a Propus core, but I cannot find out how to check this or unlock the cache.

Any thoughts?
Thanks

:edit: I suppose I should say too that it reports no L3 cache on the chip.

Thanks guys - I thought that might be the case. I had hoped it wasn't since it reported it is Deneb, but I'm happy enough that I got the 4th core :) . Everything said the l3 cache is rare anyways, and that the 4th core makes a bigger difference than the extra memory.

CPU-Z is reporting what your bios says.

Only way to know what chip your x3 was derived from is by the stepping codes on the top of chips IHS. CPU World lists stepping codes of AADAC AD and CADAC AD where used to make the 440 C2 version, all are Propus cores no Deneb. AADHC AD was used to make the C3 version, all Propus no Deneb. There is always the chance you could get a locked up Deneb core, it's steppings would be that of say a 945, CACYC AC for C2's and CACAC AC for C3's.

^^ Personally I havent seen my codes, chip came pre-seated on my build, bought as Mobo and chip combo deal (It was my first build and I was scared of screwing it up as well if I'm honest) :p

That means that it has no idea what your chip is and that it was a failed phenom chip that go downgraded into a athlon. So no there is no L3.

I have unlocked the fourth core on my Athlon 2 X3 425 and have the 6mb L3 cache but for some reason Firefox crashes everytime I start it? Could this be beacause of a failed core as well or is there a fix to this problem?

Try using I.E.8, see if its a firefox only issue or if browsers in general are causing you to crash, might point to it being something else.
