the point i am making is that you can get server ship for MUCH LESS than the desktop i7 counterpart.

It would still operate with standard non ECC RAM in a desktop orinated Mother board like an x58, correct?

This isn't for a server, and the affect ECC has is arguable.

No they are wrong, only w35xx nehalem xeons work in x58 motherboards at this time.
