Hi All!
I've had a 3870x2 for a while and never been particularly happy with it but never looked into it too much, but when updating my Catalyst driver recently I notice things looked better (previously games had been borderline unplayable). So I've ran 3DMark06 with Crossfire enabled vs disabled and got some very odd results!. So I'm looking for help to resolve!.

Crossfire Enabled
SM2 - 3189
SM3 - 3633
CPU - 1834

Crossfire Disabled
SM2 - 3245
SM3 - 3402
CPU - 1958

Hence very odd results!!>!?!. Any help much appreciated. I've removed my drivers, reinstalled 9.2 etc. My PC is a AMD 64 X2 Dual Core 5200+ running XP SP3.

Ta!

You need a faster processor to take full advantage of the Crossfire.

Look into a Phenom if you want to stay Amd or i could recommend some good Intel's.

Thanks for replying. I am looking into a Phenom, but it just seams a bit odd that even with a so so processor Crossfire makes things worse more than better. Will a Phenom really put my 3dmark up to the 12000 mark (where it should "probably" be)?.

Regards

I don't think so. I get 12111 score in 3Dmark06 with a single GPU on Athlon64 X2 6000+.

Hi,
so going by all the figures it appears I do have some kind of hardware/driver or config issue. Anyone got suggestions on how I proceed to find and fix the problem?

3DMark06 is heavy on the CPU for points, my score didn't change much when upgrading from an 8800GTX to a 4870 512MB to a 4870 X2.

well 3dmark06 seems to favor ATI cards, just like 3Dmark Vantage favors Nvidia cards. I meant he highest 3Dmark06 score was with an ATI card I beleive, Actualy I think even the Vantage 1 was, but not sure, haven't checked that.
