Just been looking at my Geforce 6800GT (yeah, old I guess, but hey...) and found the fan speed is stuck on 53% (according to nTune). I ran furmark which got my GPU up to 95C and still, fan speed stuck on 53% in nTune...
If I try direct fan control in ntune, I can set the fan to whatever I like - I can get it to 100% which keeps the card at <85C. however, hitting "automatic fan control" and then "apply" results in this problem.
The gfx card is overheating, I'd guess, and the fan is refusing to even speed up slightly.
If that 6800 is PCI-ex, sounds like time for a new card. If agp, then you might consider finding a new cooler or new fan for existing cooler. I thought all of those agp 6800's had burned up by now. Got a dead one at my house with a 100% stuck fan you can have.
