I've been looking for a while now. Except one card, all Palits are discontinued. Should I go ahead and buy a Palit 4850 at a local retailer or is Palit coming to an end?

Palit cards are generally cheaper than the other ones, so I want to buy the Palit ones.

Seems Newegg has just stopped carrying them. They only started not too long ago.

Dont worry though, you can still buy overpriced EVGA and BFG cards.

I seem to remember that palit are one of the few companies actually making cards. I believe most of their work is actually making cards \ products for the other "brands". Their more recent experiments with "retailing" cards themselves for the better margins is quite possibly none "core".

Perhaps the experiment did work as well as they would have liked, or perhaps its a victim of recession cost cutting, perhaps running their own "brand" was expensive and they felt with the down turn they were best focussing on the core business of supplying the over priced brands? It could just be egg reducing range as well. But the chances are that Palit are still making a good percentage of the cards for sale on new egg even if its not their name on the box :D

Or, in these tough times, their customers (other board makers) dont need competiton right now? This makes the most sense

How do you explain this?: Palit puts 2GB memory on GTX 285

It doesn't look like they are dying.

I said I was going to get a 4850.

@DXrick
i always thought Palit's sonic cards were doing well in the market. Palit's sonic editions of RV770 run much cooler than the default ones. I read in some other forum that they were just getting rid of the stock. We'll have to wait and see.
