I am currently using a 9800GTX and this PSU is working fine for that, but I was planning on upgrading soon to a ATI 4870 with 512MB. I just want to know whether the PSU I have will be ok for it? Thanks

Should be fine, however that would be a dumb upgrade. The 9800GTX is nearly as fast as a 4850, and a 4850 is just below a 4870.

What resoloution do you play at and what are the rest of your system specs?
Here`s why it`s not a good upgrade:

In the 'GRAPHICS CARD HIERARCHY CHART', it would be wise to upgrade 2 minimum of 2 steps high, inorder to be a good upgrade.

So what would you suggest?

Well you havent told us any information about your system speed, monitor size, resolution, etc, etc.

So how could we possibly answer that question? Is there a certain game you play that your current card cant handle or do you just have the money spending upgrade bug?

Looking at the specs on that power supply, its pretty weak, 15a and 14a on the two rails, I wouldnt go much more than a 4850 with that. Makes me wonder how it goes for $80 on newegg. The Antec 380w has 17a and 17a on its two rails and sells for $39.99, its also pfc and 80+. Go figure.

I agree, you'll get at least $100-$110 for your GTX on Ebay. Do a 7 day auction w/free shipping and start bidding at $79.
You probably wont get a noticable diff from the GTX to the 4870 unless your counting fps.
