I'm encountering a very bizarre problem with my PS2. It seems that it can no longer recognize CD-ROM games (which have a blue/purple coating on the back). I know it worked before because Madden 2002 was one of these games (and I logged plenty of hours with this game) and now it no longer works either.
All my DVD games (which have a clear coated back), DVD Movies, music CD's and PSOne games (which have a black coated back) all work just fine.
Has anyone else encountered this problem or have a possible solution? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I had the same problem. The laser might be out of calibration. If it's still under warranty and it hasn't been opened (sticker on the back left)then getting it repaired should not be a big cost. If it is not under warranty be prepared to pay over a hundred bucks!
mine is the same.except that it will read cdr's with any color back but on dvdr's it is a little skippy..freeze or just not able to read the disc..but it will play original dvds fine..it has the messiah chip fitted and all settings are calibrated right lens wise.do you think it may just be the discs and not the lens??
