They call it developer preview. Is it the same with a beta version or it is still a pre-beta version of Windows 8.
Can regular users like me download and use it or it is only limited to developers?

I am planning to download it right now. Is worth it?

I don't think it's in beta yet.

I don't know that I would bother with it atm. It seems like this was released for devs to work in applications for the metro interface. The start button is basically removed in this version, and replaced with the metro launch button.

I've had two people mention they were not able to get this to load in vmware Hawkeye22, but I believe they just released a new version of vmware which does support it. I installed it on an extra machine just to look at it.

It is a dev release and works fine. I have it in a VM using VirtualBox. To get it to install, tel the host you are installing Win 7 and set the disk controller in the host to IDE instead of sata. Here is a pic of a fresh install.
