First off my current specs are
Q6600@2.4ghz
HD Radeon 5770
320gb 5200rpm HD
4gb RAM

ok, I want to buy a second hard drive for media uses/file storage, My current drive I hope to only use to install programs to and ofcourse have windows installed to as well. I'm looking at going with atleast 640gb for my new drive, and 7200rpm, but I'd prefer a 1TB and still sticking with 7200rpm.

Does anyone have any suggestions on a drive (if not thats cool, I can easily find one myself) but my bigger question is, What RAID setup should I use? and does it matter what slot i plug the new drive into on my mobo? AND how do i configure said raid setup?

TLDR--->

What raid setup do you recommend to use if I want to have one hard drive as my OS/Programs and one drive as my media/files, and how do i go about doing this?

For what you're looking to do, I don't think you want a RAID array. A RAID array makes multiple hard drives work together, kind of like a single drive.

I think you want a primary and slave setup. All you need to do, is connect the new hard drive, format, and assign it a drive letter. Then you'll just direct your media files to go to that drive, instead of your main (C) drive.

For the size range you're looking, here are a few good drives:

SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 1TB

Western Digital Caviar Black 640GB

Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA 6GB/s
