How would I go about overclocking my Intel Core i5 720? At stock speeds its running at 2.66GHz, but I'd like to get it up to 2.8 or 3.0. I have the EasyTune6 Utility from ASUS which came with my GIGABYTE P55A-UD3 motherboard...I was going to use that, but I was wondering if it was safe with stock cooling. Currently it runs at about 31C idle.
what are u trying to achieve out of your i5 750, as in what speeds? i can go on my i5 750 at 3.45ghz without a Voltage Increase, u should be able to flash ur bios in case anything messes up, turn off cpu spread spectrum, load line calibration, all the power saving options - Intel SpeedStep, Turbo Boost, C1E, and there should be a few others i cant think atm, but u should easily be able to oc it, what kind of board do u have? i have mine overclocked on a asus p55dle board, imo asus are great for oc just about anything, 1 more tip, if ur pc wont boot at that speed, 9 out of 10 the problem could be the ram timings are too low for the higher clock, well i noticed that with my board, i had 7-7-7-20 @ 1333mhz and @2.67ghz on the i5 stock, overclocked i have 1600mhz@9-9-9-24 and @ 3.3ghz = http://i357.photobucket.com/albums/oo15/skater44_04/cpu... http://i357.photobucket.com/albums/oo15/skater44_04/ram... and it even works with 1T command rate on ram timing!!! , any other questions u can ask me man im a i5 guy ><
