i see the phenom does lose and it is definantly compatible with my MOBO but im not prepared to go intel as it is seriously over priced. i think intel is rubbish, yes i am a gamer and yes im using AMD but my point is to everyone (that does gaming for that matter) is that you dont need an i7 as most of your graphics depends on the GPU im not going to spend all my money on a 965 and findout im not even going to use it :pfff:
This is my opinion so if u have an objections please feel free to keep it to yourself.

I run an AM2+ board that use to run a dual core X2 600+ and am now running a Phenom 2 940. The two best AMD processors are the 940 and 955 but for your setup go with the 940. The main difference between the 940 and 955 is the 955 is AM3 so can use DDR3 Memory, but your board being AM2+ means that it runs DDR2. Other then that the 955 is only clocked 200mhz faster then the 940 and the 940 can easily be clocked to match it. If you were doing a new build and were going with an AM3 motherboard then the 955 would be a better choice but for an upgrade in an AM2+ board (even though they do support AM3) for the money you're better off going with the AM2+ 940.
