Hi to all to start. This is my first posting.

I am a bit paranoid about HEAT.....

To the point:

System:
Dell 4700
3.0 GHZ P4
2.5gb DDR2 Ram
Geforce 6600gt 512mb Video(Forsha)
80gb WD Hard drive (internal)
160gb Seagate Hard Drive (internal)
Power exhaust fan
Intake 92mm fan blowing across CPU heat sink
Thermaltake SL1 exhaust fan

My temps look like this:

GPU 50 C Idle about 65 C under load
HD0 46 C Idle about 50 C under load
HD1 45 C Idle about 50 C under load

There is no way to check CPU temp(dam Dell), best I could do was a thermometer in the heat sink...38 C Idle 47 C under load.

Are these acceptable?

I believe they are, but again, paranoid here.

Download coretemp, itll work for your cpu temps. If the temps you posted are right, they seem ok, just make sure your case is clean of dust

Yah those are fine temps.

Also you could use realtemp if not coretemp for CPU readings.

GPU looks fine, no worries there. Your drives seem to be rather hot. My drives under load top out at 40, I've never seen them hit 50+. P4s run hot, I'd be VERY surprised to learn that your 3GHz P4 is only 47c.

speedfan also works for good cpu/gpu temp monitoring.

the drives temps are the most out of spec. best to keep a drive below 40c
looks like time to mod that case to fit some fans
